SHOW RULES
General Rules
- 1. Entry fees are $5.00 per class unless otherwise indicated. $50.00 fee assessed for returned checks.
- 2. Entries must be postmarked by May 13, 2007. A $1.00 per class post entry fee will apply for any horse not already entered by the deadline. (No post-entry fee for horses entered by April 30 who add additional classes).
- 3. Office fee $5.00 per horse. No High point nomination fee, but horses must be nominated prior to accumulation of points, as only points of nominated horses will be tracked by show management.
- 4. Overnight and show stabling on grounds is available by private arrangement. Call Rea's directly at 227-5404.
- 5. Ribbons from 1st through 6th place in all classes except Leadline, Stick Horse, Most Classic and Liberty.
- 6. All classes shall be judged in accordance with U.S. Equestrian Federation (USEF) rules with the following exceptions:

- a. Chaps are not required in any Western class.
- b. No stallions of any breed allowed in youth classes.
- c. Sidesaddles with appropriate attire may be used in any performance class.
- d. Snaffle bits (and bosals in western classes), ridden two-handed, are permitted on any age horse if the horse has never been shown with a curb bit. (No mechanical hackamores allowed in any class)
- e. Long sleeve shirt, boots and jeans acceptable in any western or English class.
- f. No tiedowns or martingales allowed in any riding class, with the following exception: a running martingale used with a non-shank snaffle bit may be used ONLY in walk-trot, beginning reining, and green horse classes. (Green horses may not wear martingales in any other classes).
- 7. Riders may wear ASTM-approved safety helmets instead of regular hats in any class without penalty.
- 8. Green Horses are defined as horses in their first year of showing in classes requiring a canter or lope.
- 9. In Novelty Costume and Matched Pairs, Costumes must not present a safety or significant spooking hazard to other exhibitors and may not have any element that drags on the ground (i.e. no carts, travois, sleds, etc).
- 10. The judge's decision in all classes is final. The judge has the discretion to excuse any entry from a class.
- 11. The management reserves the right to reject any individual from the show and show grounds at any time for reasons including but not limited to: failure to follow the rules, unsporting conduct, intoxication, disruptive or abusive behavior, rough treatment of animals, or for any other cause the show management deems reasonable.
- 12. If a class has fewer than three entries, it may be cancelled or combined with another class.
- 13. To qualify for judging, each exhibitor must appear in the ring wearing the correct number, plainly visible.
- 14. Any exhibitor failing to show an entry shall forfeit all fees, except if the show management is provided with a veterinary certificate or a doctor's certificate stating that the horse or rider is unable to compete.
- 15. The gate will close 2 minutes after it opens for each class. The gate manager must be notified of any gate holds 1 class prior to hold, holds limited to 3 minutes. Gate holds begin when last horse in previous class leaves the ring.
- 16. Any questions or disputes not provided for in the rules must be submitted in writing to the show committee with a $50.00 deposit to be refunded if complaint is upheld. Decision of the committee is final.
- 17. The Tri-Arabian Horse Club, Inc., and its members shall not be responsible for any accident, injury, damage or theft that may occur to any person, animal or property on the show grounds. Pursuant to MCA §§27-1-725 through -727, participants hereby acknowledge the risks inherent in equine activities. Participants shall hold the show and its sponsors harmless and indemnify them from and against all demands, claims or suits. Each participant waives all claims against the Tri-Arabian Horse Club, Inc. and the Lewis & Clark County Fairgrounds. Presentation of the signed entry form shall be deemed acceptance of these terms.
- 18. Exhibitors of Arabian and Half Arabian horses may be asked for registration papers. Please have copies ready.
- 19. Age of exhibitors is determined as of December 1 of the preceding year per USEF rules.
