The Pioneer Cabin Trail Ride on the RV Ranch and the Prickly Pear Ranch just west of Helena started off with a warm October Friday afternoon. The grey clouds to the west rolled in late in the evening and by morning let down a steady rain. We couldn't believe it. How could we have picked the only rainy Saturday in six months? The hearty souls from Hooves & Co came down from Kalispell to take in some new scenery. It is a good thing that they know how to come prepared for any weather. Even with the rain, the footing was still safe and they all completed the 25-Mile Competitive Trail Ride in the allotted time. Ride veterinarian, Dr. Lisa Baller, won compliments from all the riders. The riders won great prizes from our sponsors. There were seventeen riders who braved the elements and challenged the nine obstacles: mounting, bridge, log pattern, gate, drag, mud xing, ravine, hill crossing, egg carry.
